bp pulse, the EV charging arm of global energy company bp, has opened its largest EV charging hub in the United States. Located just two miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the new site marks a major step in bp pulse’s plan to expand fast-charging infrastructure across high-demand areas in the country.

The flagship LAX location features 48 ultrafast charging bays, equipped with a mix of 400kW and 150kW DC fast chargers. Both CCS and NACS connectors are available, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of electric vehicles. Designed to serve ride-hail drivers, renters, and local EV owners, the hub offers convenient charging options just minutes from one of the world’s busiest airports.

Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas, said: “Our new hub near LAX is another example of how we’re bringing fast, reliable charging to our customers when and where they need it, alongside convenient amenities. We’re committed to expanding our charging network to more metro and airport locations like this one to support EV drivers and ride-hailing fleets in a simple, reliable, and cost-effective way.”

Beyond charging, the site is built with driver comfort in mind. Amenities including a lounge, vending machines, restrooms, and free Wi-Fi will soon open to the public, making it a practical stop for travelers and professional drivers alike.

The project received a $2 million grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC), supporting the state’s mission to transform transportation and accelerate the adoption of clean mobility. The LAX hub aligns with bp pulse’s broader strategy to develop EV charging near airports and in partnership with companies like Hertz. Additional sites are planned across the country.

David Hochschild, Chair, California Energy Commission, said: “The LAX hub marks another important milestone in California’s journey to a clean, electric transportation future, providing fast charging infrastructure precisely where it is needed most. This project serves as a successful model for the kind of the public-private partnerships we need to accelerate our innovation economy, create new jobs and improve air quality.”

bp pulse is also integrating ultrafast chargers into bp’s 8,000+ retail locations across 46 states, helping to meet growing U.S. demand for convenient, reliable charging, wherever drivers go. With over 40,000 charge points worldwide, bp pulse is one of the leading EV charging companies globally and sees the U.S. as a key growth market.

Daria Holbrook, EVP Mobility at Hertz, said: “With EVs often the preferred choice for our rideshare drivers, charging infrastructure like the new bp pulse hub near LAX is essential to supporting their daily operations,” said Doria Holbrook, EVP Mobility at Hertz. “This prime location near the airport combined with ultrafast charging capabilities will help drivers stay powered up and on the road, supporting one of the nation’s busiest transportation hubs.”
