Ameresco, Inc., a leading provider of energy solutions, announced a new design-build agreement with The Resilience Authority of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, Maryland to install electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across ten County-owned sites. The news was shared on BusinessWire on October 28, 2025.
Selected through a competitive process, Ameresco conducted a detailed analysis of the County’s existing fleet, fuel usage, and EV adoption plans. The company also performed charging simulations to identify right-sized, cost-effective solutions that support the County’s transition to an electrified fleet. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to sustainability, operational efficiency, and long-term innovation in fleet management.
The project’s managed charging strategy is expected to save the County about $350,000 annually in utility costs once the fleet is fully electrified. The study also identified opportunities to reduce electrical capacity requirements by 2.5 megawatts across all ten sites, providing capital savings and future flexibility for growth.
“Our goal from the start was to create a smart, scalable path to fleet electrification that balances cost, reliability, and long-term flexibility,” said Susan Herrold, Anne Arundel County Central Services Officer. “By partnering with the Resilience Authority and Ameresco, we’ve turned strategic planning into measurable progress—reducing emissions, improving efficiency, and investing in modern infrastructure that can evolve with our needs.”

The plan includes a phased rollout through 2026, ensuring each site installs the optimal number of chargers for near-term demand while preparing for future expansion.
“We’re proud to partner with The Resilience Authority and Anne Arundel County to transform thoughtful analysis into practical, scalable infrastructure,” said Peter Christakis, President of East USA & Greece; Project Risk at Ameresco. “By right-sizing chargers, optimizing electrical capacity, and sequencing deployment, we’re helping the County accelerate electrification while maintaining cost control and reliability.”
Matthew Fleming, Executive Director of The Resilience Authority, added, “Our progress reflects the County’s leadership and the dedication of its staff. From advancing natural infrastructure and addressing coastal flooding to expanding EV charging, this partnership demonstrates what collaboration can achieve.”
