Last week, Love’s Travel Stops officially opened its first EV charging station of 11 planned EV charging stations in Colorado, marking the beginning of an exciting rollout that will bring more needed electric vehicle charging locations to the state.
The new Buena Vista station, located conveniently off Highway 24, offers travelers a modern, comfortable, and efficient charging experience. Drivers can enjoy fast-charging stations under a well-lit, weather-protected canopy, making it easy to recharge in any condition.
Whether embarking on a family adventure or a solo road trip through Colorado’s scenic highways, Love’s new Buena Vista EV charging station delivers the reliability, comfort, and hospitality that drivers have come to expect. This launch represents another step forward in Love’s nationwide effort to support the growing number of EV travelers and make charging on the road easier than ever.

Love’s Shaping the Next Generation of Travel Stop EV Charging
Love’s has been offering EV charging since 2017, with a growing network to support road-trip-ready drivers. The company operates over 100 chargers across 36 locations in 14 states, with more fast-charging stations being added through 2026. These locations are strategically placed less than a mile off highways, offering convenient entry and exit.
To meet various vehicle and charging needs, Love’s provides both DC fast chargers (Level 3) and AC chargers (Level 2). The Love’s Connect app allows drivers to easily locate charging stations, plan routes, explore available amenities, and access mobile deals for snacks and drinks.
Beyond charging, Love’s ensures a better overall experience with food and beverage options, including healthy meals and popular quick-serve brands. The company is known for clean restrooms and dog parks for pets, offering both small and large dog sections. Love’s travel stops are open 24/7, staffed to help alleviate range anxiety and keep drivers on schedule. For tech-savvy travelers, Love’s offers free Wi-Fi and a Mobile to Go Zone stocked with the latest technology.
More Gas Stations Are Opting to Own and Operate EV Chargers
A growing trend among U.S. fuel retailers is the move from outsourcing EV charging operations to owning and managing their own charging stations, as EVinfo.net reported recently. This shift from third parties managing the charging allows companies to have more control over customer experience, pricing, site reliability, and revenue generation. Retailers such as Global Partners, Love’s Travel Stops, and Pilot/Flying J are taking a more active role in operating EV chargers, integrating them into their business models.
However, some large retailers, including Wawa and Sheetz, continue to partner with third-party providers like IONNA, a joint venture aiming to deploy over 30,000 fast-charging points by 2030. These partnerships remain an attractive option for some, but many retailers now see EV charging as a core part of their business and a competitive advantage.
